Brier Island Tidal Race Program

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Situated at the entrance to the Bay of Fundy are two small islands, Brier Island and Long Island. With each tidal cycle, enormous volumes of water move through the Bay, funnelling around these islands and creating a dynamic marine environment filled with exciting opportunities for sea kayakers.

Join us as we explore this remarkable coastline, experience the movement of the tides, and discover what makes this area such a special place to paddle. From exploring the rugged shoreline to playing in moving water, Brier Island offers an opportunity to develop your skills, build confidence, and experience the sea in a new way.

This is a place where the sea shapes everyday life. Fishing boats, working wharves, and a proud maritime heritage tell the story of communities whose livelihoods and traditions are deeply connected to the ocean. Here, the sea is more than a beautiful backdrop; it is part of the community’s identity, history, and way of life.

And when the paddling day comes to an end, Brier Island rewards us with some of the most stunning sunsets in Nova Scotia. There is something special about watching the sun sink into the horizon after a day spent on the water, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and rhythms of the sea.

This is more than a paddling trip. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself, learn from the environment, connect with fellow paddlers, and immerse yourself in a remarkable coastal community. Come for the paddling, stay for the sunsets, and leave with a deeper connection to the sea.
