Building confidence through support

Taking your sea kayak into the rough water might be a little intimidating but it does not have to be. During the program, we will work on building confidence in a rough water environment.  The program will be structured in a way that we will progress from calm conditions and we will build confidence during the day working in a variety of different conditions.

Aims of this programs

  • Build confidence in rough water conditions
  • Identify hazards and areas to avoid
  • Practice rescues that can be performed effectively in rough water conditions
  • Gain confidence in bracing and support strokes that can be used in a variety of different conditions

WHAT 2 EXPECT

Taking your sea kayak into the rough water does not have to be intimidating. During the program, we will work on building confidence in a rough water environment. The program will be structured in a way that we will build confidence during the day, progressing from calm conditions to  a variety of different conditions.

Who is participating in this program?  

Students should have Paddle Canada Level 1 Skills or equivalent to participate in this program.  We are happy to chat with you in advance to sea if the program meets your needs and goals.

Equipment Requirements

Students are required to have all their own paddling gear to participate in this program.  We do offer equipment rentals for this program.  Dry suits can be rented for $30 per day, sea kayak rentals are $65 per day and includes P&H Sea kayak, Lendal Paddle, skirt, bailer, throw rope and helmet if the program requires it. Equipment rentals should be arranged in advance of the program to ensure availability.
